A common question that we are asked regarding pets is whether a Landlord can request, or collect a pet bond in South Australia.
Under South Australia’s legislation the answer is simple, No!
The maximum bond which can be collected for any tenancy is 4 weeks rent if the weekly rent is $250 or less per week or 6 weeks rent if more than $250 per week.
We recommend that you don’t allow this to prevent you from allowing pets in your rental property. Click here to read our blog on the benefits of allowing pets in your rental property.
